Our Vision Ahead - FAQs

FAQs

What is Visioning?
Visioning is the process by which a community imagines the future it wants, and plans how to achieve it.

Why are we doing it?
To provide a clear and common direction for the City of South Perth and its Community.

Who is the Community?
People who visit, live or work in the City of South Perth and its suburbs.

What does it involve?
The project will involve extensive consultation with you - our residents, community groups, businesses and schools - about where you would like to see your community heading into the future.

What will be the outcome?
Our Vision Ahead is more than a document. It is a philosophy and a process. It will empower, build knowledge and trust between Government and the local community. It will increase individual, community and organisational confidence in contributing to the future of the local area, and will enable both the Community and Council to share the responsibility for creating, and implementing, the Vision. The Vision document itself will be a shared collection of words and images describing what the community is striving to become, and will shape the future decision making of groups, individuals and the Council.

What do we need to know to build the vision?
The vision will be built up by involving people from all walks of life, with an interest in the City of South Perth, in discussion around the 4 main questions:

1. What do you most value about the Community? ie those things that you would you like to remain the same in the future.

2. What do you think are the key issues we will face in the future?

3. Imagine that the City of South Perth meets your highest expectations in 2030. What are the key features of your vision?

4. What is one or more local action in the community that would help us move towards your vision for 2030? Please be specific.

What has this got to do with me?
By engaging with the whole of community we can be sure the Vision accurately reflects its key sentiments and ideas about the future of the City of South Perth, creating the best possible place for people to live, work and play.
